The Chinese certificate authority StartCom has announced to halt their certificate issue by the end of 2017. This is because they will terminate their services in 2020.

The organization was impotent to bear the loss and was unable to regain the trust of major browsers, Microsoft, Apple, Mozilla and Google which were lost due to the lacks in its certificate and those of its parent company WoSign.

The company released their statement saying, “Around a year ago the majority of the browser makers decided to distrust StartCom, remove the StartCom root certificates from their root stores, and not accept newly end-entity certificates issued by StartCom.”

The company with its almost demoralized concept has confessed that despite their struggles, the firm StartCom has not witnessed clear signs from browsers that they will come up again. Therefore, the firm’s owners have decided to retract the certification feature from StartCom.

The authority has confirmed that their services will just provide validation after the termination of new certificate issuance at the start of the year 2018. However, till 2020 it will end all kinds of certificates including the validation certificate.

The first one to terminate the registration from StartCom was, Mozilla. In September 2016, Mozilla initiates to end up the certificate issuance from the WoSign and StartCom. In next one year, the browser, Google, and Apple also ended the certificate.

However, Symantec is also listed among the distrusted certificate authorities with StartCom and WoSign. Its TLS certificates are blacklisted and Google has confessed that they will remove trust form Symantec certificates which were issued prior to 1 June 2016, when Chrome 66 will be in Market in April 2018.
